This car, when I bought it, it was a war that I couldn’t even take it home it was completely rusty, it was stopped for a lot of years until i start to driving it, I drove it for 8 months

My name is Leonor Espinhal and I am 27 years old I bought it in 2011, in July of 2013 I got it back as it is today it already had some modifications because I got the car in not good conditions eve after the restoration
At the first day it was dropping brake fluid to the ground, I wanted another engine but the mechanic didn’t listened it was a confusion and today it has it’s stock 1300 engine it has little modifications that I kept doing, it has double body carburetor from the GT version
And it had 2 mufflers and I removed one, the car got a nicer sound and it made dragging a little better it’s the only modifications that it has, and an air filter made by me that even have airplane parts on it
The restoration is never over, my final idea is to swap the engine to a 1600 or 2000 cc because I like to drive and it doesn’t satisfies me anymore for now, these are the plans and to paint it again because the restoration didn’t went well This was my first car and still is
I’ve got the license and someone lent me a Datsun 1200 to drive and after 3 months my mom wanted to buy me a new Scirocco I said I don’t want it because I like more of the 70’s cars and I asked for a Datsun
And she said “if you want an old car I like more of your mechanic’s car” my mechanic at the time had and Escort MK1 Mexico and from that, here is the Escort
Before I restore it I already went to classic meetings, is when i started to meeting people from auto world which i was always interested for and a few weeks after I had the car restored someone challenged me to do the Cascais circuit
I don’t know if it was the best or the worst thing that they did to me because since then I didn’t stopped racing The first rally that I did was the Caramulo in 2013 and I repeated the next year the same rally
In this next year, I was 23 and my navigator was 16 years old at the time we only had one first gen iPhone as guide and until today I don’t know how we won the rally in general I wasn’t expecting it, at the award ceremony I didn’t expected that to happen
And we left the ceremony so happy that because after the rally it had a gin competition to relax after the race to see who was able to drink more and I left there kinda touched already and I went to the car and started to kiss and hug it for like 10 minutes
For what I could achieved with it, to win a rally in general, I never thought I was able to it was my first happy moment with the car It’s a car that teach, it teach us to drive
Aesthetically what I like the most is because it looks that it has a bone on it’s mouth the front grill looks like a bone and I always loved it and it has the feeling of a little muscle car that’s what I also like a lot
By the way, there is a fun story, when I was 12 years old I went to ToysRUs looking for those miniatures to build it at home and paint and I wanted a muscle car
And there wasn’t none, the most likely was an MK1 Escort, at the time I didn’t even knew what it was years later after I had this car I noticed that I had the miniature and it was awesome to have bought it at 12 and in the future have the car
Never in my life, never because a few months ago I decided to tattoo it and now they have to take my arm if I wanted to sell it, no I wasn’t able to This car have a very special value to me that goes beyond the cars It’s a bit personal and intimate story
My dad passed away when I was 17 and I locked myself in my room, didn’t wanted to knew anything when i bought the Escort I started to want to go out and having a life again
This car made a thing to me that nobody was able to do, my friends tried but I was really bad maybe I took refuge at the car and was the best thing that’s also why I have such affair to it

já andei num a carro assim 1300 L de 1974 , fiz muitas viagens fazia medias de 6,5 litros , as voltas na cidade gastava mais era de 9.5 litros, um carro muito bom de 4 velocidades de tração traseira

From 2027 on in the EU certain car parts will be banned as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils…California will do the same from 2027 on…. So no investment should be done any more in smoke crime comitting cars.

Aos 23 anos comprei um Ford Corcel 1973 (modelo Brasileiro parecido com o Mk1) hoje eu já não o possuo, após restaurar vendi para comprar um Maverick 1978, penso em conhecer Portugal em breve e estou a pesquisar sobre os clássicos que os compatriotas guiam. Espero ter a oportunidade de acelerar algum clássico! De preferência Ford! Hahaha
