hi Rodrigo hello Nelly how are you I’m honored to get the chance to talk to such a legend commander of the order of Prince Henry I salute you thank you you will be performing live in Portugal at the North Festival on the 26th of May what is the the first thing you do when you land in Portugal probably have an Espress and and probably like a b or something at the [Music] airport I saw your performance at the Juno Awards it was amazing congratulations thank you and I heard that fora from the the Euro Cup Anthem do you still play it live do you remember the lyrics you know so it’s it’s like very much about this I watch football football even as a a child you know I played in school and um we wrote forsa for the Euro Cup from the studio every word every line my mother helped me write that song yeah yeah she really did and and it’s it just speaks to that thing that passion that that when you’re it’s like not unattainable but it’s something to [Music] inspire Nelly Kim forado daughter of Antonio and Maria did they have like a Portuguese nickname to you oh there were many my mom would sometimes call me jasinta oh yeah Nel n so you have a new single Love Bites now may maybe I was called a kishka once in a while kurish maybe that’s an aoran word yeah you you you have a new single love bite good at with your mou really try tell us about this provocative title oh love bites yes it’s just a super sexy song It’s a dance song but it’s kind of Pop as well lately I’ve been experimenting quite a bit I’ve been working with a lot of different DJs SG Lewis produced this and he’s very talented he’s about I don’t know I think he’s maybe 27 he’s from the UK and um he’s also friends with too and they’re friends with dom DOA my other DJ friend we released a song last year called eat your man so yeah they sort of like um feeling kind of empowered you know as a woman I’m I’m 45 now I’m kind of feel like I’m entering sort of like my Prime sort of feeling like very good very confident and uh I’m able to really have fun with the music I’m able to really have fun in it and and not overthink it although I do my new album is coming later in the year and there’s some powerful moments it’s not all dance and fun there’s some pretty emotional stuff on there but it’s all what I call pop music which is strong Melodies and the ability to give you a healthy Vice I say you know there’s certain things that are unhealthy you know it’s it’s a safe way to escape and I like to give people that escape as an artist you would take your your older child on tour do you still do it with the younger kids oh yeah they travel a lot they really love it all my kids love music do you think that’s the the Mangal Spirit the Portuguese Heritage in you that you don’t leave your kids you just bring them with you uh I think so like I think that it’s just natural to to want them to be a part of it because you know what there’s a lot to learn you know and it’s also nowadays I think it’s difficult to create Community you know with your family like it’s like especially if you have certain family that doesn’t live close you know so I find that within my community of musicians and artists and dancers and there’s a lot of community there so sometimes I like for my children to be a part of of that as well because you can also include your family or maybe my mom is there too or cousins but it’s a really rare thing nowadays to have that that artistic Community around you so I I feel like it’s very positive and it’s similar to what I had right because I had my my Prof and my and marching band and I had those Role Models you need an adult Role Models around you know not just m and dad there’s other leaders in the community I think that’s healthy you know it takes a village to raise a child that’s the saying same perent yeah it really really really does I know this there was a time where Portuguese ruled the whole of Canada there was Nelly forado and Shan Desmond the prince and princess I reached out to to Shawn and he told me to tell you that your friend Shawn loves you but I bet you know that you know what Shawn is so special because I feel like we’re like our inner children are so similar because he was a child singing in Portuguese at fashes and I was a child singing in Portuguese at fast and we’re Zoran we’ve lived this like dual immigrant sort of like Califa experience you know so and so we’re like Kindred Hearts you know so there’s something very special about that so I keep telling him you know when we make our song together it has to be perfect I’ll say this I’m so Portuguese I’m so Portuguese it has to be perfect it has to be perfect dualipa and Drake they say you influenced them so we can say thatu FU influenced the the pop music of today and I leave you with that I I love that us love that thank you so much Nelly you are the greatest thank you a thank you
