Turn the AC off for godsake
idk but sometimes it looks like a fiesta 🗿
have it and love it!
I have one, with stock tune but this is a light version without leather, speedlimiter, manual A/C, light rims, no options apart from sync2 and yellow paint.
With less than 1400kg with fuel and me inboard, it suits the car better than 1500kg full gadgets and a tune.
Got mine ST3 Mk3 FL, full bolts-on with a stock turbo, tuned by Alan from Edge Autosport. 268 WHP and 480 nm, this car is such a blast and so much fun to drive! I believe I will switch it only for GR-hot hatches from Toyota 😁
Now you need to drive a fiesta ST back to back after this. I absolutely love my stage 1 tuned Fiesta ST.
I've never seen a Ford model that isn't severely underperforming. I don't understand why Ford needs to be so dishonest with their power figures nowadays. Here in Germany, thanks to the Autobahn, their scam gets exposed. Besides the shitty real world performance, reliabilty of modern Ford models is sub par to every other European manufacturer. I fcking hate Ford.
looks so much slower than a golf 6 gti with a stahe 1 with 260 hp. Especially after 200, after 230 looks really slow. I loved the ST's but damn…
Torque steer is fine. Everything fwd had it back in the day.
Torque steer is one of the most misunderstood issues with front wheel drive.
True torque steer is the notion of the car always wanting to turn to one direct due to the torque of the engine as it spins… usually to the left in my experience. True torque is 100% always in the same direction leading you to steer in the opposite direction. You can recognise it as it slowly builds up leading to you feeding in more steering as the torque increases as the engine torque increases during acceleration. IN a Turbo car however, when the torques can come on very suddenly, it can be quite alarming how quick the car always ants to pull in that one direction.
When you feel the front end scrambling from side to side that many people label as torques steer, you are actually experience traction steer from either the right or left front wheel… which ever is obtaining the best traction.
Traction steer is the amount of traction differs from front left to the front right or vice versa… and hence the car can be pulled in both directions in quick succession.
This is essentially the same as the back end of a car sliding out when one wheel loses traction in rear wheel drive car.
All modern hot hatches no longer suffer from old fashioned torque steer. Mots have a good LSD up front but you can still get that feeling of the car wanting to dodge a bit left and right as traction under the front wheels changes. Of course, with modern computer systems and electronic LSD's… that feeling can also be dialled down a bit.
In all old front wheel drive car, which has been modified with say a turbo… it is possibly to experience both genuine torques steer because of the old suspension, but also feel traction steer as well… they are a handful to deal with.
I like the fact you can get both previous gen and a new gen Focus ST as a wagon.
The measurement of 100-200 km/h is completely wrong. You drive onto the highway and briefly lift the accelerator (because of the SUV) and then step on the accelerator again. Accelerating fully looks different and would probably have improved the time somewhat. Nevertheless, it definitely doesn't work well for the alleged 280 HP.
I had a stage one and mine used to boost way more than half way on the gauge. Used to stick to the top.
Very fun car to drive.
what a car i love it, but the Mk2 is the best🙌
Sometimes is 280hp, sometimes is 220hp or less
wheel hop is not torque steer and a limited slip diff will not solve wheel hop. In fact a lsd will make the front end even more alive and tricky if you ask me. This is from Fiesta ST mk8 M260 expierince. Quite a handfull but boy it gives you smiles per gallon
Just an ordinary car, nothing special. Ford cars 👎( sorry for the owners )
3:52 driving at 87km/h next to cyclist?
100-200 in 16+ seconds is a bit slow for 280hp. But Fords always underperform. I wonder why that is.
Gear leaver makes it look like a child’s toy….🤢
I had the estate version in the same colour ST3. Wish I kept it – can’t get that colour at all on Autotrader
Nice to see 280HP in a Focus – something that owners of the new 2024 model cannot get…although they pay for it
Generated sound?
I've never liked the way the MK3 looks and sounds. The MK2 Focus ST was better in most aspects with its glorious volvo unit and good looks. With mods its still slower than a Megane 275RS and Astra GTC VXR
oh well indeed when i get a family ik what im buying hahah
Those wheels dont suit the car.
very nice car!
A stiffer rear motor mount is enough to reduce the torque steer of a tuned ST to less than untuned.
My 2016 ST2 has about the same mileage, upgraded intercooler, airbox/filter, upgraded recirc valve, short shift arm and a remote tune by edge autosport (tuned for drivability and longevity, as it is my daily).
With the winter package (heated front screen, heated steering wheel) it is the best car I've owned.
One should also note that these are exceptionally reliable and robust (except for the paint) compared to everything Ford produces nowadays.
