I have been putting 4'x8' sheets of plywood in my 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager minivan for 3 decades. And I can close the hatch just fine.

I have hauled plywood in my CT. One tie down connected to side anchor points going over the end down and in perfectly well just as it does on my F-150.
