yeah it was really really hard before the FDA to have a platform to be visible and I’m really happy that we now have a chance to like showcase all this beautiful design during the process I had two mixed emotions one of them is stress fear because it’s my first mural ever and excitement and joy hello welcome to this special edition of cut 365 with me adim we’re coming to you from jamama Al the iconic bustling Square here in marash the historical and cultural Heart of the City it’s the perfect backdrop to showcase the cut Morocco years of culture 2024 the cutter Museum’s Leed initiative to spark cultural exchange and dialogue there’s a lot going on here and we’ll take you through a wide range of activities and exhibitions but first yuanna who hits the red carpet at Fashion trust Arabia the cover prize that supports emerging design Talent from the Mina region for the first time since its launch in 2018 fashion trust Arabia the prestigious annual Design Awards is taking place outside Qatar as part of the 2024 years of culture 22 finalists hailing from across the Middle East and North Africa have come here to maresh to impress the judges with designs across seven categories from evening wear to jewelry and fashion Tech I’m a finalist for the category ready to wear and I’m from Tunisia I’m very much inspired by the Tunisian culture very much about the artisanship in Tunisia I work very close with the the linen Weavers in Tunisia and this is a really big inspiration for me I’m representing the jewelry category and fashion trust Arabia 2024 representing proudly Lebanon mainly I’m always inspired by the marine life um I love to swim and spending time in the water the colors the fish the kai all the marine life is so inspiring that I love it I’m from Iraq and I’m a finalist for the deut talent Awards in my collection I was inspired by a lot of uh daily objects some of them like the delivery bag paper straw daily objects that we don’t pay attention to marking its sixth edition this year fashion trust Arabia is the first of its kind in the Arab world supporting Talent from the region FTA gives up incoming design ERS a platform to Showcase their work on an international stage yeah it was really really hard before the FDA to have a platform to be visible and I’m really happy that we now have a chance to like be visible on a more International level and showcase all this beautiful design and work and also come together as designer and Inspire each other tonight it’s Awards time the FDA finalists have come here to the historic El body Palace dressed to impress and with their eyes on the prize in the presence of some of the biggest and invoked names in the fashion industry one designer in each FTA category will walk away from this evening with a prestigious new title winner of fashion trust Arabia 2024 the wait is over the verdict is in the winner is the lucky winners are taking home a huge cash prize a year year long mentorship and their collections will be carried by British luxury department store heritz but even for those who have missed out tonight the title of FTA finalist never goes out of style being called the fashion TR Arabia finalist is already allowed for us a lot of people that supported us a lot of the communities and artists that supported and believe the brand are proud of where we got and where we’re getting to three fashionable Days Seven Awards and a few wardrobe malfunctions later fashion trust Arabia 2024 has come to an end but for these 22 rising stars in fashion FTA and their time here in maresh is only the beginning now let’s go from the red carpet to behind the scenes I caught up with the co-founder of the prestigious fashion trust here at the Mandarin Oriental Marakesh born in Beirut raised in Paris Tanya Ferris heads the nonprofit organization focused on providing a global platform for Middle Eastern designers ready for the international market Tanya you founded fashion trust in the UK in 2011 then fashion trust Arabia in 2018 when you came up with the idea of marrying fashion with philanthropy did you ever imagine the fashion trust brand would be as big as it is today actually no I co-founded fashion trust uh with the bridge fashion Council in the UK in 2011 and the whole idea started is because I had my own fashion label for many years and I learned so much from my own brand it was called Lulu and Co it can be Lely being in fashion and I learned so much by having the label and I wanted to support young designers and then in 2018 as you know I’m Lebanese so I understand the region I speak Arabic I read I love the region and I always dreamt of being supporting young Arab designers from the Mina region and then her highness Sheik moza I met her and I Met Her Excellency she Al mayasa and uh you know we co-founded it together and yeah it’s been amazing to see this journey grow and to where we are in Marakesh here we are when you started fashion trust Arabia you had a stated goal to make the Middle East a fashion Hub how closer you to realizing that Vision I mean we still have a long way to go you know I think that since we we started we had like 200 250 applications now we have 1,200 yearly and you know everyone’s supporting and being supportive of the region which is very good for everyone like I feel the more the merrier so we’re getting there but of course it’s a long way to go there are a lot of challenges that a lot of designers go through and uh yeah with the mentorship with the support system that we’re giving them hopefully you know it will uh support them and help them help their careers and we just finish the awards there but I’m sure you’re already looking forward to 2025 what would you like to see from you know the next batch of upand cominging designers who want to apply for fashion TR Arabian Awards like for them to have their own identity the quality of course of the the the clothing the design to be very you know Innovative so that’s what we’re always looking at a collection that you’re inspired by and like yesterday looking around the show case is inspiring to me I’m like oh my God this is gorgeous oh my God this is so beautiful I love this I love that so you know so that’s what inspires me to be around them to meet them to see them to get to know them you rub shoulders with a lot of a-listed and celebrities but what is it about new and emerging designers that you really enjoy meeting I love how creative like I love this the Journey of their creativity like how they evolve like yesterday just just hugging them and just like being feeling that they’re so proud and happy being part of FDA you know is what makes me want to do more and support more now we’ve enjoyed a lot of fashion so far but there are so many more cultural exchanges as part of the years of culture initiative we’ve come to robot to meet some cut three artists looking to turn their artistic expression into a lasting impression here in Morocco a core value in the years of culture mission is bringing together artists from different cultures what better way to Foster cultural exchange than by sharing the same canvas jari art showcases The Works of kutri and Doha based artists in public spaces across qar but for the first time this year the qar Museum’s initiative partnered with Morocco’s jedar Street Art Festival three cut three artists were paired with three Moroccan artists to create joint installations here at robot’s Serene Hassan 2 Park C artist anfal alandari teamed up with Moroccan artist Hamza marmo to produce this piece so I tried uh to find the similarities between the two cultures and focus on them through my work so I wanted people here in Morocco when they pass by they see something that they can relate to but at the same time they would think we know this culture for that one uh specifically I find the beauty of of how uh both cultures still proudly wear the th and the and here in Moro they wear the jalabia with the gush it’s very fascinating they each painted two murals as part of the cubis landscape exhibition Hamza says this collaborative exercise has been rewarding and therapeutic I’ve been doing like art since I was like young it’s been like a therapy for me I decided to take it as a career pet it was it was a hard career pet but it’s reward if you if you if you’re consistent it’s going to be hard a lot of difficulties and stuff but you just got to keep on keep on going keep on pursuing what you love we then returned to Marakesh to join a group of volunteers participating in another years of culture exchange organized by education above all a global foundation for education and development 10 Cy and 10 Moroccan youth volunteers with an interest in entrepreneurship were selected to participate in workshops and immersive experiences with a special focus on developing entrepreneurial skills so uh one being an entrepreneur or studying business and two being an Arabic speaker we’re coming to an Arabic country the program was in Arabic we’re bringing entrepreneurs from qter to engage and interact with local entrepreneurs to one receive training but share Knowledge and Skills and then finally to actually design businesses together Gia aldosari was one of the cut volunteers who got a chance to experience the splendors of Morocco firsthand the third-year University of Doha for Science and Technology student was motivated after meeting local youth beneficiaries who’ve overcome impossible odds to start their own businesses it kind of opened my eye that we have a lot of people that have the potential and they have the resources to do but they don’t and that just gave me a push to actually do and follow my dreams or uh influence people to follow their dreams the volunteers also got a chance to visit the calm and tranquil Marakesh pond pal Grove Ria found it so inspiring she even planted a palm tree a small gesture of thanks to the city that welcomed her and her fellow volunteers for a week full of learning experiences that will undoubtedly change their lives forever because learning is a continuous journey and I feel like the only way you could learn is by stepping out of your comfort zone and seeing other people’s culture so it just made us feel more interconnected and feel we feel like a family from walking the red carpet at Fashion trust Arabia here in marash to meeting cut three artist creating public art pieces in robot we hope you enjoyed this special episode of cutter 365 but that’s all the time we have for now we say goodbye from Morocco and see you again in Doha for more check out euronews.com and connect with us through our hashtag thanks for watching and we’ll see you next time on cther 365
