[Music] first of all thank you so much for for taking the time to talk to us um we’re for we’re very excited to um to have you in in Portugal soon I mean you shared the stage with so many artists like big big artists that we also play here like at shiran the Jonas Brothers um is there any like other artists in your bucket list that you would like to um share the stage with or you know co-write a song or just collaborate in general I’d say off the top of my head people that I regularly would would think about would be Cole play or Ed Sheeran or John Mayor are sort of three they’d be like three artists that were very like sort of key parts of my life growing up um so that would definitely be something that for me is like you know a big a really cool experience and really um special thing to do so and I was I was reading um your your comments on on YouTube yesterday of of your music videos and people were so touched by your your lyrics and I think what really touched me is how people um see you as like a way to express their feelings you know when they hear your songs and I think that’s beautiful and I just wanted to to know your opinion about all of this and how does that inspire you to create more and you know uh put in such beautiful words what you feel and what so many other people feel for me started probably as like a need to like Express what I wanted to say and express things you know that are like on my mind um express feelings put them into something make something good of something bad maybe or just like a feeling of like if you can create something it’s like a place to put something you know a feeling thoughts that you’ve had if you can just put it into a song then it’s there it’s out and it’s in this thing it’s not like in your mind anymore like bothering you um but then also I think it was a a an ease thing it was for me the easiest way to make music and to like to like stop questioning everything and it’s so easy when you’re writing songs and when you’re writing songs especially if you collaborate and stuff and like I noticed a lot when I would be writing with other people are writing for or with other artists and stuff that people can be so like nitty-gritty about like what they want to say but like a lot of the time it’s never the truth you know a lot of people just want to write what sounds cool or like they want to write what’s like what is the clever most clever lyric or what’s going to be like a hit or whatever but for me it was like I feel like you can never put a gauge on that and it also feels like artificial so like the easiest thing for me to write something that I felt connected to that I liked was just to write the truth just to write exactly kind of the things that I would want to say and then yeah of course to be able to like get people connect to that is is very special so let’s talk about the Tik Tok videos right it was just a very random idea that I guess suited that song at the time I’d always thought throughout my life wanting to do public things I find them fun I find them kind of scary I find them interesting I find them funny and and a bit silly so it was always something that was a bit on my mind but i’ never really executed and I think I don’t know if I was you know thinking about it or maybe I had kind of the idea or whatever but I just remember being at home on my couch and I remember I was on the phone to one of my best friends who was doing all my like videos and stuff um and we’d been friends for such a long time and we’d done like these kind of pranks when we were kids just for fun like like you know in McDonald’s just like singing to order our food or just like where we wouldn’t even film it but just for fun you know um cuz we grew up on all that YouTu pranky stuff YouTube and like those OG kind of videos and and so like I think it was like a taste of that it was basically like I was in I I realized that we were going to film this like full take choir version of of the song that we were that was out and we were promoting which was I’ll be waiting at the time and sort of that just sparked the idea in my mind that like oh we had a day of rehearsal with the choir and then we were shooting the next day like a full scale video which is like I’ll be waiting live with a choir in a in a like it’s like this empty swimming pool thing on YouTube and so when I realized that we had a whole day with the choir that’s just the idea I was like wait if we have a whole if we have a choir like if I have access to all these amazing singers why don’t we go out and do some of these videos in public like I feel like that would be like I feel like that would be a fun thing and it would be the kind of thing that if it’s done well and and edited correctly like people would watch it and for me like I loved doing that it was so fun and it’s something that I still enjoy doing and I want to do as much as I can you know cuz it’s like it feels like very much like it’s become part of my personality in a way as [Music] wellever ever us be waiting how excited are you for for this concert in Portugal and I don’t know if you know about this but the Portuguese crowd is very um very warm and they really love when because we never take things for granted so when we have them it’s like okay let’s make sure they love us I have never performed yet in in Portugal so it’s like I’m I’m yeah I’m really excited that we’re coming over and it’s uh it’s going to be really really fun because it’s been you know a long time coming and it’s been like so many messages always like please come to Portugal like when are you going to perform and so when when it when we found out that we were going over I was just really really excited because it’s it’s like yeah it’s going to be really nice and I love going to to places especially that like really don’t sort of like you can feel the excitement because it’s a more rare maybe place to have artists coming um and I love Portugal as well you know I’ve been there before on a holiday and and it’s a wonderful place and the people are amazing and and I love the Portuguese people so I think like yeah I’m very I’m really excited I’m very excited to sort of play a show and especially in a place that I’ve never performed before because it gets rarer and rarer that you get to cities that you’ve even countries that you’ve never performed in before I also have this little game and it’s called a song to the scenario so you’re on a road trip with your friends it’s sunny outside and The Vibes are vibing what song is playing oh uh I think like Hotel California by the Eagles I don’t know why that came to mind but no but that’s a good one that’s a good one yeah so you’re getting ready for an event you’re you’re you’re getting hyped and excited for the event what song is on your play I think like some upbeat Michael Jackson stuff um you’re old school I like that yeah that’s what came to mind first definitely okay completely different scenario it’s a night in warm blanket cup of tea sented candle maybe or a a movie what song is playing uh I’ve definitely got just a jazz in the background playlist um that’s what I do like every night pretty much I just tell my Alexa to play jazz and so it would just be that candle is gone bit of incense relaxing some nice I couldn’t tell you exactly what song cuz it would be just just a playlist of like old school or sometimes I put on like a sort of 1940s or 1920s just like nice old chill um yeah relaxing Vibes I’m going to Corner you with this one CU I I want you to say the the right the right answer but you’re at the Metro and suddenly everyone starts singing in a beautiful choir what song are they singing hopefully hopefully I’ll be waiting or Heaven one of the two I think it’s a beautiful choice and lastly you’re in Portugal about to perform to a big crowd what song is going to Hype you before the show I often put on Jack harlo before going on stage yeah kind of random but I had a big obsession with Jack harlo um became my my my pre-stage like Vibe really makes he pumps you up you know makes you feel cool now I need a now I need a feature of you with Jack that would be so cool I’m so excited to have you here and truly I’m such a big fan of your songs and your work in general so um I can’t wait to see you when you come and hopefully we’ll get to talk as well in
