Mr try what went down in your head the stars are in the sh listen to them to them Children of the Night Children of the Night what music morning beloved November in Christ processor of gu morning beloved wooden veins in music in low frequencies beloved hello hello I can hear you now hello hello good I don’t I don’t usually I don’t usually uh use apps too much so I have to give permissions and there so it’s okay welcome to 2024 no no no I I’m up with technology I just [ __ ] hate giving permissions for stuff you know so I yeah I totally understand you know I kind of gave up on that because if you don’t you know sometimes I’m you know I’m doing work like this so you know I just have to comply with their BS anyway but you know except except except except the pain yeah yeah but yeah it is what it is anyway Darr no is everything with you good today they are so oh that’s good no I’m working but I’m just backing for Italy going tomorrow so yeah so it’s pleasure for pleasure yeah yeah yeah it’s it’s actually the first time I cannot tell in how many years I’m actually going on a holiday where I’m not doing like a concert or anything it’s just Leisure Leisure Leisure so yeah it’s uh it’s nice to finally have a proper you know holiday anyway but uh you know I go ahead no no you can go ahead sorry I always I always thought that um when we played when we went to a different country and played a gig and or went on tour it was a holiday but then I realized I went to Vietnam a couple years ago and spent two weeks like learning the history of Vietnam and well knew the history but visiting the history but then spend a week on a beach and realize ah this is a holiday you know because when you when you go play gigs go drink go play gig go drink that’s not really holiday that’s just [ __ ] more more you know so yeah yeah I yeah I I I totally understand it’s actually when you’re not doing you know much then you realize it’s actually a break because as I told you on the email I go to Ireland a lot I have family there but normally I tend to book my holidays when there’s concerts you know so oh yeah and and and and it’s also that’s it’s like I mean it’s good that we can do that and I we do that I’ve learned I’ve learned a lot about Europe by going to festivals over the years you know yeah it’s good yeah you know for me learn you know I need the music to be able to actually enjoy and relax properly somehow I don’t know why but it’s a vice I guess you know in a way I think it I think it yeah yeah it also makes it makes it a lot easier to meet people from a different country yeah I think yeah yeah it’s true and you know I actually after Italy I’m planning to go to Berlin in October there’s a few shows happening that I really want to see so it’s going to be my first time in German in over 20 years so I hope things have changed a bit what what what are you going to see who are you going to see um I’m going to see Dream Theater um Power wolf and Emer fall and probably Axel hudel as well you know it’s all mainly more heavy metal you know more classic stuff and um but that that week in Berlin it’s absolutely insane there’s concerts of every kind every day and you know anyway but you know let’s talk about morning beloved because that’s why we here okay uh what are you I I don’t mind I you know what have you guys been up to because you know your last record Rus in bone was out in 2015 I know you guys put out the split in 2020 just one song but what’s been happening within the band at the moment Yeah well yeah a lot and also nothing really we we we we recorded the split um oh Jesus I think we recorded the split in maybe 2018 it only was released in 2020 and then Co hit yeah and we lost the rehearsal space I I also have I have a splenectomy I got me being removed years ago so I had to avoid people during this covid whatever you want to call it Hawks or whatever you want to call it I don’t mind but during the co times we didn’t rehearse for maybe two and a half years yeah we lost a lot of momentum that we had and we lost we didn’t we didn’t rehearse we didn’t even see each other a whole lot so when the co restrictions were were lifted and we were allowed um walk free again or free what do this but when we we um we had a we had a gig plan with primordial in Dublin before Co and it it was rearranged for when when the restrictions were were um lifted so but we hadn’t seen each other for three years and at in the at the same time Frank Frank over the years has had trouble with his hands he had carpet tunnel and he can’t feel his hands sometimes so after about two or three months of us two and a FR and we he he came to the conclusion he can’t really play guitar anymore which is a big thing because Frank is is a major contributor to the songs in morning beloved and the sound and is a founding member as well so it was a very difficult te in time for us but we got another guitar player who we’ve known for years called Barry White who is a very very good guitar player and Frank is do just I want say just doing vocals now he’s doing vocals now I’m doing vocal Barry is on Guitar pork’s on guitar and Bren bass Tim drums but it’s taking us some time to just Mel this new um this new lineup you know and we’ve done a couple of gigs in Ireland we did want a cork we didn’t want in Belfast we played over in in Rotterdam with our friends in in Baro so we’ve got to know each other and Barry’s got to know us we even though we knew him musically it’s different you know yeah and it’s also it’s also very difficult uh these days because we’re a bit older and we I think we probably settled into our lives during Co or whatever ever and we don’t rehearse as much as we used to we used to rehearse every week so we’re trying new things now we’re trying to use like dos and Reaper and digital send each other files and so but finally finally over the past six months we’ve started to write some songs which is good well and actually next weekend next weekend we’re actually going recording drums for um one of the songs so then we can send send drums lay down tracks and see how it goes so it’s starting to come back finally because I mean when you lose I suppose when you lose a bit momentum I I did some other things with some other bands but it was all online digitally yeah while Co was going so I kept I kept I thought I kept my my juices flowing creative juices but when you when I went back to morning beloved it was just I think we all when we all stopped we all had to start again and it takes a while but now fin finally it’s it’s seems to be happening again it is now that you adjusting to a you know a new lineup like a new lineup setting um when it comes to to the live shows how have you guys played already with these new you know formations and how we play yeah go ahead how I were the I were those shows you know I was adjusting to that new reality we’re still doing that so it’s um yeah I it’s it’s strange yeah it’s strange that like I mean as Frank’s vocals on on the albums up to now have been like I won’t say backing vocals but they’re just a part of what he does where he’s a did guitar so a lot of it is Frank trying to find what he needs to do yeah yeah and and also as us as a band and we’re not just going to force things like say Frank new sing more or whatever it it needs to be natural it needs to just develop the way it develops yeah yeah and think we’re slowly getting into the feeli of that so the first few gigs the like the first two gigs were awkward first of all it’s like um where Are You Gonna Stand simple things like that what what are you what are you gonna do when um you’re not doing any vocals like [ __ ] so actually the first gig we came back to we played in Dublin with mordal and it was big enough gig big enough stage good lights and the parts where Frank wasn’t singing like there’s could be long GS because you know we have long songs so it could be 10 minutes where Frank isn’t doing anything and that’s that’s a long time on stage we’re not doing anything yeah you just went off stage and then came back on and it not it didn’t seem right so we’re just feeling our way along we don’t know we’re not GNA Force anything whatever happens happens yeah it’s a it’s go ahead do do you think it’s a you know with this new setting so to say where Frank is try to find this food within the band within new music you can adjust better to its position within the band as a you know a clean vocalist uh sorry what what do you mean by that uh I mean if you if you if you’re going to try to use Frank vocals more like in harmony with you so to say but uh you know for him to you know fit better in this new reality because one thing was until the you know the songs you’ve done until 2020 another thing is going to be from now on let’s say I give an example of night wish for instance where you know they had Marco when Marco joined the band because he was a he had a great voice they decided to create music for his voice as well is you guys are thinking like that or you prefer to stay no we’re we’re we’re not we’re actually and it’s we we don’t have many we’ve never had many discussions we’ve always had about what way the music is going it’s always this is the next Rift these are the next Rifts and let’s make something around that the good thing is we’re making music again and I think we have we’ve all realized over Co when we didn’t I mean you don’t you don’t realize how much of your life the music and the band is until you don’t have it yeah yeah and I think we’re all just actually in the moment where we actually appreciate what we’ve done and what we’re doing and we’re also we’re not planning like we we’re not saying this needs to sound like this or this needs to do this we just write music and see what way it goes creatively you know there’s no pre-planned formula or no pre-planned thoughts on we need to do this now because of this it’s like Barry Barry is our new guitar player and Briant guitar player and he’s writing songs and it’s although they’re similar in tone as in morning belove it it’s completely different to what Frank writes and the way Frank wrote and the way we wrote I mean we’re now swapping rist digitally and next weekend when we record the drums for the a new song we have Barry’s going to lay down some guitars guitar tracks then we’ll be able to sit at home listen to it put some vocals on it and then Frank a put some vocals on it I put some vocals on it we be a have a discussion go to rehearsal see what it sounds like I mean it’s just it’s still very organic I think it’s not like oh we need to we need to have Frank here now yeah actually we two days ago I was talking to Barry and Barry has an idea for an edaran po song or poem sorry the the Conqueror the worm conqueror conqueror worm with a very good very good um words in it and I think it Su Frank’s voice excellent and he sent on that to Frank and I’m working on another one and then we’ll come in with the ideas and see the way to go go from there you know it’s not it’s not like I need to do this yeah I need to do that it’s just like let’s see what happens it’s it’s yeah it’s starting to flow again which is good because it it’s after taking a long time to start flowing again yeah you know it’s I think everybody and I mean everybody that um you know at a life when covid hit you know they kind of adjusted to the setting of enjoying the family and you know when you when a band it’s not your job or main job you know I I think the priority was set even for work you know like remote work now it’s it’s almost yeah and you know prior to covid you were obliged to go to the freaking office every day you know do those hours and now they realiz it’s possible to work from home be more productive actually and and and have a life yeah true true and and this is you know for years I think our life was centered around morning Glover and this as we discussed earlier about holidays and a lot of us gave up our holidays to play gig and and this it’s a good thing a lot of us gave up our holidays every year like you know you only have a certain amount of holidays every year and up our holiday every year to play gigs on the weekends and some our drummer Tim Works weekends and he he had take most of his holidays just to go play gigs you know yeah and go record or go and it’s great it’s great but then when you don’t have it and you’re going actually I can spend some time with or I can supposedly spend some time with my family and going not going H yet but yeah you just develop different ways yeah it takes a while to go back to that takes a while to go back and the good thing is I I I remember actually saying when we um when we’re going to play the gig in Dublin we rehearsed once or twice and it’s like I was thinking to myself you know if if the if the creative juices aren’t there there’s no point forcing it just because we have done things before yeah you know it’s no point it’s no point just H writing songs and painting by numbers you have to feel it yeah and it’s slowly getting and the good thing we all wanted to that’s the good thing yeah there was no no discussions on oh come on come on come on good well that’s good and you know what can we expect from the show in Lisbon obviously you know I think the last time I saw you guys was actually on this Festival in Lisbon as well and some years ago actually um what can we expect from from the show other than you guys trying to see why everyone stands on stage now no I think I think we’ve actually um solved that problem so you’re going you’re going to see you’re going to see the same well it’s it’s just morning beloved again you’re going to see six sober people I think so that’s a good thing because sometimes that doesn’t happen either you know so we’ve learned lessons over our past few gigs as well I mean when we came back first we just we all hadn’t seen each other in a while we drank a lot and maybe the performance weren’t the best so we’re going to be tight and good and that’s the plan that’s all that’s all we can do is hopefully we’re tight and if we’re tight then everything else will just flow nicely cool and you know Darren if you could describe or in this case a song that defines morning beloved Jesus w f song at the fly morning we love it if you had to present if let’s say someone from the family you say you know I have a band and you know what what kind of music you know show me a song what would be the song from the band that you would show someone B beloved song yeah well it’s always it’s always the next on you know so it is though it is and at the moment my brain like I mean Barry Barry wrote a new song and we have a nickname called Dixie Brennan which is just a long story I won’t go into um we yeah Barry has written that and that’s just the only thing in my brain for the past month two months so if I was going to introduce anyone to the band it would be the next song and that’s an easy thing to say I know but then again if you’re thinking about if you want to introduce people and they’re not into metal or not anything probably the last song we did you know I saw TR your arms which is softly softly but if you actually read the lyrics and listen to the end of it it’s maybe not that softly softly in the end yeah yeah well I you know it’s uh you know it’s great to see you guys going you know back on the saddle so to say and uh you know play shows and knowing that you guys are working on new music you know it’s always you know nice to hear from you and you know before we wrap up what what were the bands that influenced you and uh you know made you realize in a way that you know I want to make music as well I you know without even mention the band I we all lived in the countryside yeah so and not far in the country maybe 10 minutes from from the nearest town yeah so it was I I always want wanted to be in a band and I didn’t know what type of band I didn’t even know what band or anything like that I just want to be a band you know why if this is from me now but I guess if if you know when we started morning beloved first there was no let’s be a doomed dead band or let’s be a doom man or let’s be a dead man it’s like let’s write songs and see what they’re like I mean our very first flyer says our very first flyer I still have it actually and it says slow melodic metal because we didn’t know the word doom or Doom or whatever yeah so it’s just and I think that’s just the same thing now is there’s no there’s never a definition when we like even the next song there’s no like this needs to be slow this needs to be long or this needs to shortest like let’s see what happens and it’s usually the misery that comes out but if I was going to mention two bands when we were 2021 in morning below it and going it was early my bright early in at simple simple as that and early Paradise Lost those three bands just you know that Yorkshire doom de scene was a big thing for us in the band at the time yeah yeah I think everybody has fun memories of those days indeed indeed sir indeed as as they call him days isn’t it really so yeah well you know we’re getting old and you know times change so so do we and sometimes you know we’re not 20 anymore and uh you know no that that changes that changes us as well uh Darren thank you much for your time all the best for morning belov uh see you guys at under the Doom in October uh looking forward to that so uh thank you very much for your time and you know see you in Lisbon all right cheers thank you very much have a great day thank you you too bye all right yeah beloved for hello hello can hear you now oh great how are you I’m fine thank you how are you everything is good I’m just back from Italy oh wow great where have you been uh I was in Bologna uh fenzi and Sienna for you know nine days in total yeah the best parts so I guess you had uh I mean you saw nice things I I think I saw N Things ate quite well food was absolutely gorgeous I bet yeah yeah and wine and wine was good as well and the lemon cello as well definitely well we went to um a restaurant in uh in Florence and uh the the waiters were just crazy you know shouting and stuff but it was a great Vibe love the food the service was great and oh yeah you know they gave us that lemonchello drink in the end some shots it was crazy was good yeah yeah you you you meet crazy people everywhere but in the south is worse so I mean you add it good I think yeah I won’t complain and I’ll be back for sure I loved the the Tuscany area was you know pretty amazing so it’s something that I want to do again anyway carelo let’s talk about November and um you know it’s been a while since you guys uh I mean you guys played a couple shows there in Italy played um Verona uh recently and you guys played Florence as well it was you know a couple of months ago um what have you guys been up to I know you guys are recording new music but tell me what’s happening uh with the band at the moment are coming up and uh we are actually finishing uh to record a new album it was a long inating process and uh I am working with a new guy very talented young them are very experienced uh very skilled musicians so it was very easy in a way complicated but easy at the same time yeah I uh I think in January will start me mixing uh Dan swano um you know the guy the great producer will take care of it once again and I hope somewhere in 2025 the album will be out cool and uh you guys are coming to Lisbon to play Under the Doom um yes have you guys have any idea of the set list what can we expect from the show well I think it’s going to be a mix of everything uh about our last albums so there will be uh some classica stuff from the album classica and from November in walls and Ursa and it will be a mix of everything and perhaps there will be a treat like something new a little bit and there more a small thing maybe a surprise for for the fans surprise let’s call it that yes cool and uh you know you know being in a band you know obviously you guys have jobs you have you know other stuff to you know to to do in your life what and with the pandemic that kind of you know put us back and stopped everything for for a while as well um what has been the biggest challenge for November and for you as a musician uh in these last few years uh the the the big stop of the pandemic didn’t really affect um me personally because I concentrated myself on writing and develop the new album uh but I cannot speak for the others you know as you said the others they have um jobs they teach uh guitar drums and U you know uh another guy plays a lot live so it was terrible for them yeah yeah well what can I say it was it was okay for me because uh I love being on my own and writing my stuff and you know yeah yeah well it’s good you know you know I yeah I I can understand if you like if you like your own company you know the pandemic wasn’t that bad oh yeah especially if you don’t have you know children because you know I’ve heard people going crazy being all the time into the into the house uh because you know people is used to be at work every day and they are not used to being inside so yeah I’ve heard bad things yeah and and you know you were talking about the album finished dance one is going to mix it early next year uh musically uh is there anything that will surprise the fans or if they know the band they know exactly what they’re going to get with these new records I don’t no um I think it’s going to be you know every musician was going to tell you that the new album will be better than the others uh I totally support this thing and um it’s not going to be like uh different um style wise Styles always that the sound will be the same it’s going to be a development a continuation of the last one so besides the the quality of the songs that there is not going to be any big difference you know people won’t hear any hip-hop or anything like that no exactly or New Wave dark wave and then nothing like that it’s going to be still our um our kind of music cool that’s good news and you know if you had to if people ask you you know let’s say you go out and you say you are a musician you have a band and people ask you you know to describe the band what song from November would you choose to show people um that the song that would best describe the band H well the first uh that comes to mind is perhaps uh umana you know the song umana yeah and uh from the album Ursa I think it’s the best composite it’s um you know well balanced so I would go for that one yeah that’s a good choice you know and it’s a recent one I mean 2016 but you know it’s from the from a more recent record and you know kind of shows a bit the evolution of um of November as well and you know as a musician you we all have our influences you know what was you know the band or the bands or the musicians that really inspired you to follow the musical root well first band that comes to mind is Stan Paradise Lost with their album Gothic which changed everything uh in the Old Death Metal scene you know and you know back then there there was not Melody at all in death metal and uh all of a sudden they came up with that album that changed uh the musical rules all of a sudden you could harmonize uh you could develop um cords and stuff like that like harmonies and and things like that that wasn’t allowed before that album uh that was the album that changed my life definitely I I I still remember the first time I listened to it it was you know it really marked you know a change in how we perceived you know the more the more extreme music in the sense and it open abs and it opened the door to a lot of possibilities that you know back then we wouldn’t think would be right to cross you know yeah because you know death metal scene was quite straightforward you couldn’t cross over anywhere but that album broke everything yeah and after that all the flood of great bands came up like you know T and my dying bride and everyone so yeah yeah it’s a it’s a great choice of a of a record and you know after you know the album coming out next year are you guys planning a tour it’s too early to think about that is there any plans definitely too early yeah definitely too early to think about but but but for sure for sure we we’ll set up something we’ll try to put together a few dates uh tour and let’s hope to include uh Portugal yeah I I love I love the country what can I say you told me about you coming to Italy I can never forget the times I’ve been to Lisbon it’s been and Oporto also amazing amazing so uh let’s hope let’s hope to do it yeah fingers crossed do you miss do you miss playing live shows much you know being on the road play to people it it’s something that you enjoy doing as well yes I do enjoy playing life and I must admit it’s not something that I’ve been uh um promoting a lot I me I’m not being into it like other bands have to it’s not that I’m not the kind of guy who’s calling up venues and trying to organize a concerts I should I know but um perhaps I don’t have it in me a lot but when it happens I I enjoy a lot to play our songs yes very good Carmelo thank you very much for your time all the best for November uh see you in under the Doom uh in October uh it’s going to be great hopefully everything will be you know awesome uh you’ll be very welcome to Lisbon again uh so no can’t wait can’t wait it’s going to be fun Carmelo thank you much for your time all the best looking forward to hear the new songs when they come out next year all right all right thank you very much have a great day thank care man ciao glal under the Doom station beloved Wonder AKA how are you I’m good how are you everything is good how is Norway right now it’s actually uh very warm so we’re quite happy we got like 20° plus here which is very rare in this time of year well it’s nice for a change I guess yes it is it’s been a cold summer oh so yeah well it’s not too bad here it’s quite warm I you probably seen on the news the fires we have at the moment it’s crazy oh wow yeah that’s a awful I hope you guys are okay yeah everybody yeah I mean there was um there’s an area where there was a festival like a couple weeks ago and that area completely devastated by the fire and oh my God yes it’s it’s horrible but you know we say every year this happens every year the governments Pro they promise to make better you know prevention and everything and nothing happens ever you politicians what can I say yeah anyway um you know let’s talk about abik and um you guys are coming to Portugal to play Under the Doom uh your latest record was released couple years ago um for a start what can we expect from the show you know it’s a festival so you’re not going to play two hours or anything like that not that we would mind but what can we expect from from the show for a start for a start um we are like a very visual band so we got uh you know big robes I got a big upright base we have lots of uh incense on stage so you got you will smell the band like with incense we we drink a lot of wine on stage so we have like not sacrifices but more like it’s it’s a rituals kind of U and also we are very orchestral so it will be quite heavy with lots of Orchestra and uh yeah uh very very uh like a wall of sound you know it sounds promising already and you know you you you guys have three records the songs obviously are you know quite long you know for a festival when you have like um a shorter amount of time to play it kind of reduces a lot you know the set list so for a festival where you play 45 minutes an hour um how you guys going to choose the set list you know many songs or how many songs from the new album how are you going to mix all that up well that’s also a very big uh issue every time we’re playing but what we’re doing now is we have a live set that we have kind of shortened the songs a bit because there are a few uh elements in the songs that repeats itself so as of now I think we can fit five maybe six songs uh on the set uh so we will choose the shortest songs also the songs that are the most um you know listened to so we got like a song called Mirror of Sorrow which is old 6 minutes yeah we got a funeral lergy which is 12 minutes we can shorten that a bit we got Summer Dreams which we will cut a few minutes from and also we will maybe or probably do a new song that we haven’t released yet so like let’s say five or six songs will fit into the 45 minutes one hour set we have cool and you know you mentioned the the the base that you play on stage the the Contra base how how you know how complicated it is to have that on stage because it’s a big it’s a big instrument and to have to sing and play it with the robes and everything uh does it make it difficult to play on stage absolutely um and not to blow my own horn here to you know like it’s not because I’m such a genius or anything but it it’s it’s very hard to do because I play the base with a bow so you got the bow movements and also you got the robe so that you can’t see what you’re doing and then we’re singing so all that combined makes it really hard to you know um play the right notes if you know what I mean uh but then again I I think it the visual makes it uh so important to keep on doing because the effect of it is so you know I think that is very cool yeah and you know when when you when you started the band obviously you know for a lot of bands I I think when I see younger bands starting no matter what style it is uh one of the things that I normally say to them that image is important but I think people kind of tend to confuse things a bit by being by having an image doesn’t mean you’re selling out or you trying to be on the cover of Playboy or some magazine or anything like that you know it means to have like um a Nora a presence something that will get people’s attention from the start you know see a band that it’s actually a band and not just a bunch of guys you know that have their Metallica their Iron Maiden their Judas Priest t-shirt on stage and how was important when you started the band IM was important for from the GetGo to present the band to the fans oh absolutely and I couldn’t agree more in what you’re saying because I’ve been saying since many years ago I started as a musician I’m now 50 years old so I’m halfway to 100 but when I started I was like 14 and already then I said to every band member back then that we need an image we need like everybody needs their personal image so we don’t you know go like as you said I wouldn’t wear uh arm Maiden t-shirt on stage with my band even though I’m a fan yeah but out of respect for my band we needed to create something of our own and again what you’re saying is so important because and again with all respect for every band that wears band T-shirts uh if you wear a band t-shirt like if I were to wear let’s say my dying bride which is one of my favorite bands then the audience would probably expect us to be kind of like madang bright if you know what I mean because that’s what I’m projecting to people so so getting your own image is it’s so important that I can’t stress it enough yeah because you need your own identity and there are millions of musicians and so many bands and if you you don’t stand out in a crowd you don’t stand a chance yeah because people won’t people won’t recognize or or or remember you yeah that’s that’s what I say you know because you need to make an impact and you know that’s one of the things we don’t have to like you know pop artists and so to say but you know they kind of perfected how to go on stage everything is choreographed we know all that lights you know the change of costumes but they put they put a show to people you know and that’s what gets people attention and for metal bands it’s important to have an image as well a strong image that people can associate with a band because otherwise you’re just another band so true so true and and the thing is if you listen to some of the dance that really made it you will you immediately if you if you you do like you know a blind test you you would know immediately oh that’s Metallica oh that’s Slayer oh that’s Mega or that’s you know because of their sound and their particular set of playing or instrument sounds or whatever because that is also important that’s why I have the upright base because I know not a lot of bands have an upright base especially not with a playing it with a bow and maybe people think that’s okay that’s just you know Overkill we don’t need that [ __ ] but hopefully somebody will say wow that’s kind of special yeah uh and and therefore start to listen to our music which would be great because we need a lot of listeners but but yeah and you know having that particularity of you know playing an upright base with a bow singing you know I there people to try that and do it well you know and let’s say without a robe let’s you know take the robe off but try to do that and see how good you can be and probably they will realize that okay that guy is really good because he has the robe it makes it more difficult you know I think it’s for me it’s very important that um a band can have an identity you know kiss over the years they you know they Mark the marketing they did with their image for from the paint faces you know that’s what so them obviously the live show the parot technices and the lights but if you’re going to a kid show you know what you’re going to go for you know it’s you’re going to be mesmerized by it you know the songs may not be all that amazing at the end of the day but you know you going when you go home you’ve seen a great show exactly and it to me okay to me it’s always been like when I was younger I used to do theater and I guess that’s where I got the idea of we want to have an image that like uh could give people on how to put it in blent English like when you come to our concert is it should be like a a an a fairy tale or an experience or like wow it was like walking into a horror movie or like like walking into you know an old medieval whatever because that’s important to me I want people to experience the band if they’re standing in the crowd having a fantastic like glass of red wine or whatever they prefer yeah and listening to our music and close their eyes and they can drink the wine and they can feel like oh now I feel like I’m in the medieval times with you know whatever ever you prefer uh that would be awesome because to me it’s all about the experience yeah when I was young and I was watching you know bands like panta I was when they did the tour with megal megal and panta they played in Norway that LE like 90 something 1990 something I don’t remember exact and I was mesmerized because of like damn Phil s is like more above stage than he on stage because he was jumping around being like this aggressive wow you know and I was like wow I want to be like him you know yeah and that kind of an image is what I want to project to people I want people to go like look at like our baseball or guitar player they’re like whoa that was cool I want to be able to play like him and be like him yeah you know what we need to be yeah sorry no no I know and I was just saying because you had that background theater obviously that brings another element you know in your mind how to present the band because you know at the end you guys have music that tell a story and you need to have probably an image that goes with it and you know you mentioning panta but you know and when it comes to background theater in the live presentation Alie Cooper has mastered that you know you know like you go to an Ellie Cooper show and it’s a freaking roller coaster because he goes from like thec capitated to you know all that crazy stuff and he commends the stage and it’s important to have like to tell the stories you know with an image on stage I can’t stress this enough to younger bands you know be themselves but you know have a strong image because that will be the selling point as well absolutely absolutely and I think that might be why Dan SL like um dim Burger made it big also because they had a hit song You Know morning Palace but because of their image people were like w what is this thing they’re drinking blood they’re you know whoa this is great and and I think that every person or even me and you and everybody we need something to you know have as a um hero yeah if you know what I mean yeah and that’s important I mean I have lots of Heroes within both music industry and other movies everything and and to be able to go to a concert like for instance if you and I were go to go to a concert together and we saw a band my experience would be totally different from yours yeah but combined it would still be the same yeah that’s what’s so awesome about it yep you know it’s I think it’s very important for you know I I appreciate a band that puts the effort in everything and you know people you mentioned IMO bger obviously there are probably one of the biggest examples you know for an extreme band to be successful but you really need to invest some money you know and time to be able to create that and you know probably kids now with Instagram and YouTube and stuff like that they think it just needs a pretty face and do really stupid things to get likes I know but but you can be good you know at doing something and investing some time and you know be creative as well in in another sense other than just being an idiot in front of a camera true you know and how how is the SC in Norway by the way at the moment you know when it comes to because Norway is obviously known for more extremee you know music um how is everything there at the moment you know is there any bands that have caught your attention or you still pretty much still old school good question um I’m I have to be honest I haven’t been paying attention but I still love bands like H did uh like um uh 1949 of emperor of course so I’m kind of old school black met I like dark drone uh so well the scene in Norway is as follows if you play kind of like um non- black metal but you’re like like abyssic we’re we’re we’re kind of black metal but but we’re more Doom yeah so to get like the bigger festivals it’s kind of hard because they prefer black metal because they know it’s a selling point they don’t have to Market it it it’s just like okay dber is playing no problem uh but so so the scene in Norway I would probably say it’s 95% black metal and then 5% other metal yeah uh that does Big scenes yeah uh but it’s also a very good team because the festival that the the bands get to play at are like Inferno Festival yeah uh we were lucky this time to get to Inferno I’m I’m great grateful for that because Inferno is a massive Festival in Norway obviously so that’s where every black metal band from Norway want to play also the tons of rock yeah I shouldn’t be mentioning all these festivals when I’m talking to another Festival obviously but you know that that’s just how is in Norway so and you got of course all the other great festivals so so so the the the metal black metal scene they they they are doing in my opinion great yeah you know yeah you mention Inferno and tons of rock those are two festivals that are on my bucket list to try you know attend at least once because you know it’s always great you know and tons of rock is like growing a lot uh in the last few years it’s been amazing to see you know the growth of and Inferno sticks to the extreme music and they’re probably the best when it comes to extreme music in a festival because now most festivals have you know spread their wings to every genre of music nothing wrong with that obviously but Inferno really sticks with the extreme bands and you know every year is always a good year to be at infal Festival yes it is and that’s why I’ve been longing so for so long to play at the festival because it it’s to be honest in in the black metal metal scene in Norway that is the most important Festival to be at and uh we’re obviously playing there next year and we got a great spot and we’re just so happy so so if you’re attending infer next year give me a call and we can meet up and have a beer yes I’ll send you I’ll send you I’ll send you a message if I do because you know it’s one of those festivals that I actually really want to to experience because you know I have a I know a couple of Norwegian photographers that normally go to those festivals and I see the photos I see the band and I’m like I wish I was there you know I wish I was there and you know it’s one of those festivals that are really need to you know get my stuff together and um try to attend because I think it would would be worth it for sure anyway I want to keep you longer uh thank you very much for your time uh looking forward to see you guys play Lisbon at under the Doom uh next month in October it’s going to be a great festival for sure and uh you know I’ll see you in Lisbon and uh hope to see you soon again all right okay thank you very much for a great interview and uh I’ll I’ll just see you around I guess October yeah hopefully it will be a bit cooler uh in October but I cannot promise that because I last year I remember October was quite warm in Lisbon as well which is not bad but you know I’m sure you will enjoy regardless it’s going to be great all right probably yes okay okay thank you very much have a great day and you know see you in Lisbon all right thank you take care mank byee bye all right yeah come chess of gu morning beloved wooden veins music in low frequencies B Children of the Night he will live through the
